A position using this title may not perform all duties listed in this job specification. Conversely, all duties performed on the job may not be listed.</p><p><b>EXAMPLES OF WORK:</b></p><p>Supervises entire plant operation on a shift.</p><p>Synchronizes turbine generators.</p><p>Transfers load units.</p><p>Periodically records readings of meters, indicating devices and thermometers.</p><p>Operates main switchboard and interconnection switchboard checking the load, frequency, voltage and amperes, and power factor.</p><p>Checks with operators on shift to synchronize plant operations.</p><p>Maintains essential log sheets, files and other records.</p><p>Will be required to learn how to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.</p><p><b>REQUIREMENTS:</b></p><p><b>EXPERIENCE:</b></p><p>Three (3) years of experience in the operation and/or maintenance of high-pressure power plant equipment.</p><p><b>LICENSE:</b></p><p>Appointee may be required to possess a current and valid Blue Seal License issued by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce.</p><p>Applicants are required to possess a PJM (Pennsylvania/New Jersey/Maryland) Generation System Operator's Certification issued by PJM.</p><p>Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.</p><p><b>KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:</b></p><p>Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of turbo-generators and of the methods of detecting faulty operations.</p><p>Knowledge of the proper methods of caring for valuable mechanical equipment.</p><p>Knowledge of elementary arithmetic and trigonometric concepts.</p><p>Ability to understand and apply written and oral instructions.</p><p>Ability to perform routine and complex mechanical operations.</p><p>Ability to perform routine and repetitive operations accurately.</p><p>Ability to give advice and assistance when difficult and unusual problems arise.</p><p>Ability to maintain essential log sheets, files, and records.</p><p>Ability to perform elementary mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with whole numbers, decimals, common fractions, simple ratios, proportions and,roots.</p><p>Ability to learn how to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.</p><p>Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.  American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.</p><p>Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible if they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
