ELEVATOR MECHANIC'S HELPER \n\nDEFINITION\n\nUnder direct supervision, assists and works closely with an Elevator Mechanic involved in \nperforming varied repairs to elevators; does related work as required.\n\nEXAMPLES OF WORK\n\nAssists in repair of elevator motors, rails and equipment that are to be kept clean and properly \noiled; assists in making adjustments and repairs to elevator motors, door locks and signal \nsystems, control switches, braking mechanisms and other parts, or mechanical locks on elevator \ncage doors; assists in other duties necessary to modernize elevators.\n\nREQUIREMENTS\n1. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this \nposition.\n\n2. Some knowledge of the standard tools, materials, methods, practices, occupational hazards and \nsafety precautions involved in mechanical repair work.\n\n3. Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written directions; to take needed \nsafety precautions in performing the work; to obtain, store, safeguard, and properly use \nneeded equipment, materials, and supplies and to maintain simple records.\n\n4.
