does related work as required.</p><p><b>EXAMPLES OF WORK:</b></p><p>Assigns and instructs Clinical Laboratory Technicians, Laboratory Technicians, and Laboratory Service Workers in all phases of technical analysis and laboratory testing work, as required.</p><p>Sets an example by following policies of the Department of Human Services, policies set up by the employing Clinical Laboratory, and the specific policies of the institution where employee is hired.</p><p>Performs or assigns technicians to perform urinalysis including microscopical and special tests.</p><p>Collects blood or assigns technicians to collect blood including venipuncture and preparation of blood for analysis.</p><p>Performs or instructs hematologic procedures.</p><p>Performs or instructs laboratory personnel in blood banking procedures including record keeping, typing, agglutinations for accurate identification, and preparation for administration.</p><p>Identifies or instructs other technicians in the identification of ova and parasites in body fluids and excreta, and in the identification of bacterial morphology in body fluids and discharges and excreta.</p><p>Can perform or assign all bacteriology steps to identify bacteria, fungus, and parasites from the specimens submitted.</p><p>Performs or instructs serology testing including tests for syphilis and antibody titers.</p><p>Performs or assigns periodic surveys for bacteria detection in different areas of the hospital.</p><p>Performs or oversees laboratory personnel in the performance of blood ureas and sugars and routine blood chemistries of all types performed in lab.</p><p>Does test for Australia Antigen (HAA) or assign other laboratory personnel to do testing.</p><p>Sets up quality control and maintains record of such, record of instrument temperatures, maintenance of instruments, daily log of procedures, and instruct laboratory technicians in the performance of quality control and maintenance of records.</p><p>Instructs subordinates in the methods used to determine the total solids in water, sewage, and other samples;
