County investigators work for the prosecutor's office, developing criminal cases, executing warrants and interviewing witnesses. They are sworn law enforcement officers.
Appointed by the county prosecutor and serving at that officer's pleasure, so the position is outside the classified service even though the work is full-time law enforcement.
