NJ Civil Service Navigator is a free, independent reference tool for exploring New Jersey's civil service job titles. By using the site you agree to these terms.

What this site is

The site republishes information from public NJ Civil Service Commission records and adds its own summaries and analysis. It is a research resource, not a job board. It does not accept applications, and a title appearing here does not mean a position is open. To apply, use the official NJ Civil Service Commission jobs portal.

Not affiliated with the State of New Jersey or the Civil Service Commission

This is an independent project operated by Gavin Rozzi, not affiliated with or endorsed by the State of New Jersey or the Civil Service Commission. Official determinations about classifications, eligibility, exams, and salaries rest with the State.

Accuracy and no warranty

Data is collected automatically and refreshed periodically, so it can lag the official record or contain processing errors. The site is provided "as is," without warranties, and nothing here is legal, career, or financial advice. Verify anything important against the official source before relying on it.

What is public, and what is ours

Statutes, regulations, job specifications and other records published by the State of New Jersey are public, and nothing here claims them. What this site adds is its own work: the selection, arrangement, cleaning and cross-referencing of those records into one dataset (the joins between titles, examinations, salary schedules, payroll, employers and law), the summaries, annotations and explanations, and the design and code. That compilation and that writing are © NJ Civil Service Navigator.

How you may use it

• Read, search, bookmark and print pages for your own reference, career or study.
• Quote short passages and individual figures with a link back to the page they came from.
• Export what the site lets you export, for your own non-commercial use.

What needs written permission

• Scraping, crawling or automated extraction of the dataset or its data files, beyond what search engines do to index pages under our robots.txt.
• Copying the compiled dataset, or a substantial part of it, in bulk.
• Using the compilation to build a competing database, product or service, or for any commercial purpose.
• Using the compiled dataset or its data files to train a machine-learning model. (Content pages are open to the crawlers our robots.txt admits, including AI crawlers.)
• Presenting any of it as an official government source.

Automated access and technical measures

The pages of this site load their data from it one page or one record at a time. Those requests are rate-limited and checked for automated traffic. Using a script, a headless browser or a pool of addresses to get around those limits or checks, or to collect records faster than a person reading the site would, is automated extraction and needs the written permission described above.

To enforce these terms, the site records each data request with a one-way hash of the address it came from, never the address itself. See the privacy policy.

Blocking and suspension

We may slow, challenge or block traffic that looks like automated extraction, and suspend an export or account that is used for it. Search engines that index pages under our robots.txt are not affected. If you were blocked while reading the site normally, tell us and we will look at it.

Data released before this change

Until October 19, 2026, data derived from the public records was offered under the Open Data Commons Attribution License (ODC-BY 1.0). Copies obtained before that date keep that license. Anything obtained on or after it is covered by these terms.
