Supervisor of Veterans' Interment is a local service title. Definition
Under the direction of a designated member of the local governing body, has charge of the activities relating to the interment of veterans and to the decoration and maintenance of their graves; does other related duties.
Examples of work
Ensures that the bodies of all honorably discharged veterans are interred. Ensures that the graves in which the bodies of deceased veterans are interred are decorated with suitable flags on Memorial Day. Assembles, records, checks, corrects files, and keeps up-to-date registration and other records, charts, and/or maps concerning places of burial of veterans. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
Requirements
An honorably discharged member of the military service who served in the Armed Forces of the United States during any war in which the United States has been engaged.
License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Ability to work harmoniously with varied types of groups and individuals. Ability to perform routine manual tasks. Ability to obtain, store, safeguard, distribute, and properly use needed equipment, materials, and supplies. Ability to establish and maintain records and files. Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication. Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible as long as they can perform essential functions of the job after reasonable accommodation is made to their known limitations. If the accommodation cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship, such persons may not be eligible.
