ASSISTANT PROSECUTOR
County prosecutors appoint assistant prosecutors to try criminal cases on behalf of the State. They are lawyers, admitted to the New Jersey bar, and they serve at the pleasure of the prosecutor who appointed them.
Because the appointment runs through the prosecutor's office rather than through a competitive list, there is no examination and no published specification. Openings are advertised by individual county prosecutor offices, not through the Commission.
