Definition

Examines and treats patients in a clinic, and records and interprets findings of medical significance; does related work as required.

Examples of work

Diagnoses illnesses and diseases and prescribes medicine and medical treatment; checks on the hospital care of indigent patients; performs surgical operations; assists in medical treatment at a clinic; keeps needed records.

Requirements

1. Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of New Jersey.

2. Thorough knowledge of the accepted principles of medicine and medical practice; of the proper attitudes used in treating persons who are unable to pay for medical services; and of keeping needed records.

3. Ability to treat sick people successfully; to make proper diagnoses of illnesses; and to give proper medical advice.

4. Good health and freedom from disabling physical and mental defects which would impair the proper performance of the required duties or which might endanger the health and safety of oneself or others.
