Experience

Two (2) years of experience involving the prevention, treatment, and/or rehabilitation of narcotic addicts.

License

Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Knowledge of practices and methods dealing with the rehabilitation of drug addicts.
  • Ability to plan and implement individual programs to assist in rehabilitation.
  • Ability to give assignments.
  • Ability to give oral reports.
  • Ability to prepare and give lectures to various groups.
  • Ability to supervise establishment and maintenance of records and files.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to utilize various types of electronic and manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficient to perform the duties of the position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.

CERTIFICATION

Applicants must posses a certificate as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), issued by the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners, New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, Department of Law and Public Safety.
