TAX COLLECTOR AND TAX SEARCH OFFICER
Collecting the tax is a separate office from assessing it. The collector bills and receives property taxes, enforces delinquencies, and runs the annual tax sale; the search officer function certifies what is owed on a parcel when it changes hands.
A Certified Tax Collector certificate is required, and collectors can earn tenure after four consecutive years. As with the assessor, certification is the qualifying route rather than an examination, so no specification is published.

Tax Collector and Tax Search Officer is a local service title. It is filled by the counties, municipalities, authorities and other employers that have adopted civil service under Title 11A, not by State departments. Those employers set pay by ordinance or contract rather than from a State salary schedule, which is why most local titles carry no salary range here.
