Examples of work

  • Prepares and reviews estimates for body and fender repair work involving the exercise of independent judgment and involving thorough knowledge of the many aspects of this work.
  • Supervises and performs the work involved in removing dents on vehicle bodies and fenders, filling dents with solder or other plastic material, removing damaged fenders, panels and grills, straightening bent frames, installing new window tracks and locks, preparing vehicles for refinishing and applying lacquer or synthetic enamel, operating a variety of body and fender equipment such as compressor, sander and welding apparatus.
  • Gives suitable assignments and instructions to assigned personnel. Keeps necessary records.
  • Prepares dear, sound, accurate and informative reports.
  • Makes recommendations to superiors concerning disciplinary measures, promotions and appointment of employees under his supervision.

Experience

Five years of experience in body and fender work involving a variety of installation, maintenance and repair tasks.

<b> KNOWLEDGE </b>

Wide knowledge of the problems involved in body and fender work involving a variety of installation, maintenance and repair tasks, of preparing estimates and of automotive body construction.

<b> ABILITY </b>

Ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position. Communication may include such forms as American Sign Language or braille.

Ability to analyze and determine the extent of damage and the most economical methods of repair, organize assigned work and develop effective work methods and to issue suitable assignments to subordinates and supervise their work.

Ability to perform the more difficult work involved in removing and/or repairing dents in vehicle bodies and fenders and in applying prime and finishing paint.

Ability to establish and maintain needed records and files.
