SENIOR PROBATION OFFICER
Probation officers supervise people the courts have placed under supervision, enforce child support orders, and write the presentence reports judges read before imposing a sentence. The senior level carries a caseload of its own, generally the harder end of it.
Probation belongs to the Judiciary, not the executive branch. The 1995 unification moved county probation staff onto the State courts, so recruitment runs through the vicinage and the Administrative Office of the Courts, and the Commission lists the title without publishing a specification for it.
