- Assists in annual review of institutional budget requests: conducts special studies related to budget issues.
- Prepares position papers on major academic policy issues for the Director for presentation to Chancellor and the governing boards and administration of Rutgers and NJIT using considerable knowledge of national, Statewide, and institutional issues in higher education.
- Reviews, analyzes and monitors institutional enrollments, admissions policies, graduate programs, and separately budgeted research activities and prepares periodic reports for the Chancellor on the policy implications of changes in these areas.
- Coordinates master planning in the areas of graduate education and research.
- Plans, develops, and organizes special research projects on institutional and Statewide policy issues.
- Prepares correspondence relating to the performance of assigned duties.
- In the absence of the Director, assumes responsibility for the operation of the office and representation to departmental and other committees and bodies.
- Serves as Chancellor's representative at monthly meetings of the Board of Trustees of the NJIT.
- Serves as liaison to the Office of Research and Planning and the Office of Legislative Services.
- Collects and maintains basic data files on institutions.
- Supervises the work operations and/or functional programs and has responsibility for employee evaluations and for effectively recommending the firing, hiring, promoting, demoting and/or disciplining of employees.
- Performs such other duties as assigned, including assisting Director carrying out high priority special projects.
- Supervises the maintenance of essential records and files.
- May be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
- <b>REQUIREMENTS
- EDUCATION</b> Graduation from an accredited college with a Master's degree in Education, government, business or public administration.
Experience
Three years of professional experience in academic and/or governmental administration, including at least two years at a management or supervisory level.
License
Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

- Superior competence in the analysis and summary of voluminous information.

- Facility in communication with others at the highest levels of university administration.
- Considerable knowledge of the state System of higher education.
- Considerable knowledge of the theory and practice of academic and financial planning, government and university administration, public finance, personnel administration, and budget procedures in the State and at Rutgers University and the NJIT.
- Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
