Definition
Under general supervision, performs basic technical and other laboratory research work involved in the surveying, planning, compiling and reporting of information essential to department programs; does other related work duties.
Examples of work
Plans and conducts research and studies on specific topics and problems. Determines the methods and procedures used to compile, organize, and present data. Gathers and compiles information. Analyzes reports, studies, and other reference materials. Conducts research to obtain required information. Keeps current with developments in program areas. Conducts field trips to obtain information. Prepares correspondence. Prepares reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations. Maintains records and files. Will be required to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Knowledge of research techniques. Knowledge of the methods used to gather, analyze, and arrange data and information. Ability to plan, organize, and conduct research studies and programs. Ability to prepare correspondence. Ability to analyze research material and information. Ability to gather, organize and present information. Ability to conduct field visits to obtain information. Ability to prepare research reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations. Ability to maintain records and files. Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
