CONSTRUCTION OFFICIAL (S26)
New Jersey enforces one building code across the whole State, and every enforcing agency must have a construction official at the head of it. That person issues and refuses permits, signs certificates of occupancy, supervises the subcode officials for building, electrical, plumbing and fire protection, and can stop work on a site.
The Department of Community Affairs licenses construction officials and each subcode discipline separately, after its own coursework and examination. That licence is the qualifying route, which is why the Commission lists the title and publishes no specification for it.
