Definition

Under direction of a Deputy Attorney General I or other supervisory official in Department of Law and Public Safety plans, represents State departments or other entities prescribed by applicable statutes; participates in the planning, development and organization of the work programs involved in the detection and prosecution of criminal activities; interprets and enforces law, regulations; as the Attorney General's representative, participates in legal and related activities involving federal and local jurisdictions and other State entities; may supervise a work unit; does other related work as required.

Experience

Four (4) years of experience as a practicing attorney, one (1) year of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.

License

Admission to practice as an Attorney at Law in the State of New Jersey.

Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

  • Knowledge of State and Federal administrative law and practices, and of federal court procedures.
  • Knowledge of the procedures used to prepare and prosecute complex civil and criminal cases.

  • Ability to plan, coordinate and prosecute civil and criminal matters of a highly complex nature.
  • Ability to provide assignments and instruction to staff and evaluate their work performance.
  • Ability to conduct research and prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those interested or involved in the work of the unit.
  • Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
