The Tax Court hears appeals from local property assessments and from State tax determinations — the court a homeowner reaches after the county board of taxation, and where the largest ratable disputes in New Jersey are settled.
Its judges are nominated by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate for seven-year terms, with reappointment carrying tenure. An appointed judicial office is not examined.
