Definition
Under direction of a supervisory official in the Department of the Treasury, supervises the sales and promotional activities of lottery operations at chain stores, merchandisers and other retail establishments; does other related work.
Examples of work
Coordinates lottery sales activities between departmental field representatives and retailers. Promotes lottery sales at retailers and monitors promotional strategies. Interprets and coordinates implementation of retail lottery sales procedures. Reviews Statewide surveys to identify appropriate lottery sales locations and multi-outlet retails establishments. Establishes liaison between lottery office and retailers; resolves problems encountered by retailers. Monitors lottery ticket sales at resort areas, sports complexes, turnpikes, parkways, airports, and other large public entities. Prepares reports of ticket sales. Prepares correspondence. Maintains records and files. May be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
License
Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Knowledge of sales promotion techniques. Knowledge of purchase merchandising techniques. Knowledge of the techniques used to conduct surveys. Ability to coordinate implementation of lottery procedures. Ability to establish and maintain liaison and cooperative working relationships with retailers. Ability to read and interpret information, procedures and other documents relating to lottery sales and activities, and apply them to specific situations. Ability to review and analyze survey information used to identify appropriate lottery sales locations. Ability to prepare correspondence in the course of official duties. Ability to prepare clear, technically sound, accurate, and informative reports. Ability to maintain records and files. Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by thy agency, office or related units. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication. OR Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and three (3) years of the above-mentioned professional experience, two (2) years of which shall have been sales oriented.
