Definition
Under direction of a supervisory official in a state department, institution or agency, organizes, administers, and supervises the total educational program in institutions or agencies where the staff numbers less than ten (10) educational personnel. Supervises staff and work activities. Prepares and signs official performance evaluations for subordinate staff; does related work as required.

- Arranges/conducts in service training for education staff in current standards, regulations and best practices in order to improve staff performance.

- Works cooperatively with teachers to ensure that curriculum and program content are geared to specific needs.
- Maintains effective public relations with pupils, other school employees and the general public.
- Obtains school and community cooperation.
- Measures the quality of teacher performance.
- Supervises the work operations and/or functional programs and has responsibility for effectively recommending the hiring, firing, promoting, demoting and/or discipline of employees.
- May be required to engage in lifting clients when working in a setting which provides direct services to those who are non-ambulant or who are semi ambulant and/or have severe physical disabilities.
- Ensures that the building and grounds are maintained in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Administers rules, regulations, and standards for fiscal activities for the institution.
- Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
Requirements
<b>CERTIFICATE</b>
Applicants must posses a valid standard New Jersey Principals Certificate or Supervisor Certificate issued by the New Jersey Department of Education.
License
Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Ability to read and interpret department rules, regulations and policies which apply to the teaching profession. Ability to recognize educational problems and to determine methods for their resolution. Ability to develop and to direct the implementation of educational policies and procedures. Ability to maintain effective public relations with pupils, other school employees and the general public. Ability to obtain school and community cooperation. Ability to evaluate employee and program effectiveness. Ability to lead paraprofessional and professional staff in the continuing improvement of the educational program. Ability to recognize and promote leadership in others. Ability to prepare clear, concise reports and related educational documents. Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
