PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE SUPERIOR COURT

Each vicinage divides its work into divisions — Criminal, Civil, Family, General Equity — and a presiding judge heads one of them, responsible for how cases move through it and for carrying out the policies and directives of the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice and the Administrative Director.

Reaching the Superior Court bench in the first place takes gubernatorial nomination and Senate confirmation, and the designation to preside is made from among judges already sitting. No part of that is an examination.
