BackgroundThe appeal of Franklin Sosa, County Correctional Police Officer, Hudson County, Department of Corrections, 75 working day suspension, on charges, was before Administrative Law Judge William Courtney (ALJ), who rendered his initial summary decision on June 11, 2024.

Administrative Law JudgeIn his initial summary decision, the ALJ recommended dismissing the charges and awarding counsel fees based on the appointing authority's failure to provide discovery. Subsequent to the Civil Service Commission’s (Commission) consideration of this matter, the parties indicated that they reached a settlement disposing of all issues in controversy. Upon reviewing the settlement, the Commission finds that it complies with Civil Service law and rules. Accordingly, as the parties have amicably resolved this matter, the Commission, at its meeting on August 14, 2024, rejected the ALd’s initial decision and acknowledged the attached settlement.

Not an official copy. The decision of record is CSC's PDF. The text above was extracted from it by OCR and may differ in layout or, rarely, in a character.

Names appear as the Commission published them in its public minutes and decisions, initials where it used initials. This site does not offer a search by a person's name.

The labels are ours. The kind of matter and the outcome are our reading of the minutes; the ACTION text the Commission recorded is quoted verbatim above. A decision applies the rules to its own facts and is not a prediction for any other matter, and nothing here is legal advice.
