• Organizes programs, develops and maintains standards and supervises the administrative aspects of a psychiatric unit
• Responsible for the establishment and operation of the in-take procedures for patients, including psychological evaluations, assessments and testing.

Education

Possession of a Doctorate degree in Psychology from an accredited college or university plus the satisfactory completion of a one year supervised internship in clinical psychology.

Experience

Five (5) years of experience in clinical psychology beyond the one (1) year of supervised internship.

License

Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Thorough knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical psychology including diagnostic testing, clinical methods, therapy and projective techniques;
• Thorough knowledge of the administrative problems involved in the functioning of a psychiatric unit, including clinical seminars and in service education; thorough knowledge of modern diagnostic and rehabilitation procedures, the varied problems involved in giving, scoring and analyzing varied types of tests and in interpreting test results and of performing psychotherapeutic tasks of difficulty.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position; ability to supervise, plan, organize, and carry out assigned work in the field of psychological testing and/or psychotherapy of difficulty and analyze the problems arising therein and develop appropriate work methods.
• To work harmoniously with children an adult patients, associates, subordinates, superiors officers and other persons interesting in or concerned with the mental hygiene and psychological programs of the institution or clinic.
• To select and administer psychometric, vocational, aptitude, performance and special tests of difficulty to children and adults, score the tests, analyze and interpret the results of tests and correlate the results of tests with other findings, conclusions and recommendations.
• To assign, instruct and supervise the work of professional, technical and clerical staff.
• To confer with treatment staff concerning diagnostic and treatment programs and procedures.
• To prepare budgets and administer allocated funds.
• To keep current with literature, trends of thought and new developments in the field of psychology, psychometry and research.
