Definition
Under direction patrols a designated area to disseminate information and to enforce compliance with regulations as they relate to clean streets and neighborhoods; performs varied types of manual and unskilled labor; does other related duties as required.
Examples of work
- Serves as a representative of the jurisdiction's Clean Neighborhood Program by visiting residents and merchants to explain the program and distribute information through pamphlets, brochures, personal contact, and small group meetings.
- Patrols an assigned area and may issue warnings and/or summonses to violators of parking regulations and other regulations that pertain to a Clean Neighborhood Program.
- Notifies proper jurisdiction officials concerning necessary trash pickups, abandoned automobiles, littered and weed-grown vacant property, and poor pavement and sidewalk conditions.
- Performs unskilled labor such as cleaning up litter and trash using broom, shovel, and push cart.
- Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

- Ability to learn quickly from oral and written explanations and from demonstrations.
- Ability to note significant conditions and take proper action in accord with prescribed procedures.

- Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
