Definition
Under the direction of a supervisory official, performs technical/paraprofessional functions with regard to the Urban Enterprise Program, supporting and relieving professionals of the more routine tasks and duties; does related work as required.
Examples of work
- Provides technical support to Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) Authority operations as required.
- Provides initial review of Certification/Recertification applications, submitted for participation in the Urban Enterprise Zone Program, to determine whether further information is needed.
- Submits completed applications to the Director for final approval.
- Participates with professional staff in the conduct of investigations, task forces, special studies and projects.
- Compiles and prints reports summarizing weekly and monthly certification, re-certification and other activity.
- Recommends and implements changes to procedures and operations in the certification and recertification process.
- Reviews Waiver and other agreements submitted by UEZ Coordinators; prepares documents recommending approval of waivers to the Director.
- Participates in UEZ Workshops as required.
- Maintains contact with UEZ Coordinators and others on the business certification/re-certification processes.
- As required, provides guidance and instruction to other support staff and answers questions regarding work practices and procedures.
- Resolves complaints, and answers inquiries from correspondence or telephone calls.
- Coordinates the gathering, compiling, assembling, and interpreting of data required by the Supervisory Officer or professional staff in completing assigned tasks.
- Participates in the preparation of research needed for technical reports and correspondence.
- Functions, when assigned, as a liaison to groups and organizations interested in division programs and services.
- Compiles statistical and other data required for records and reports.
- Maintains essential records and files.
- Will be required to learn to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
- <b>REQUIREMENTS
- EXPERIENCE:</b>
- Two years of experience, in a public or private agency, in the application of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the review of documents, providing technical assistance in the completion of forms or applications, and the resolution of complaints.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Knowledge of modern office methods, procedures, practices, routines, equipment and machines and their utilization in a work unit.
- Knowledge of the methods used to gather and interpret data.
- Knowledge of the computation of routine statistical and simple mathematical data.
- Ability to understand and apply Department rules, regulations, procedures, and policies to the review of applications and requests for information.
- Ability to communicate a variety of written, technical and non-technical instructions such as rules, guidelines, policies, and procedures to others.
- Ability to gather, organize, interpret and record factual data.
- Ability to prepare correspondence and memoranda as required.
- Ability to maintain essential records and files.
- Ability to implement modern office methods in the work unit.
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, interpret and apply basis laws and regulations of the Department.
- Ability to receive and, when possible, adjust complaints.
- Ability to coordinate efforts with groups and organizations interested in Department programs and services.
