Examples of work

  • Seven years' experience as a Deputy Attorney General and/or Assistant Deputy Attorney General.

License

Admission to practice as an Attorney at Law in the State of New Jersey.

Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of State and Federal administrative law and practices, and of federal court procedures and practice as they relate to State and other entities.
  • Thorough knowledge of the procedures utilized in the preparation and prosecution of complex civil cases.
  • Wide knowledge of the structure and content of formal and informal legal documents and administrative publications.
  • Considerable knowledge of the formulation and preparation of informative and technically correct reports and correspondence.
  • Basic knowledge of administrative and investigative principles.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and prosecute civil matters of a highly complex nature.
  • Ability to supervise professional and other staff in performing assigned duties and in meeting program goals.
  • Ability to evaluate and to determine the quality of work products and to develop and modify operating procedures as required to meet agency goals.
  • Ability to research and write logical well-constructed and technically sound reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to interface effectively with various government jurisdictions, agencies and other affected publics.
  • Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
