ASSIGNMENT JUDGE (Code 37492)
Each of New Jersey's fifteen vicinages has an assignment judge, appointed by the Chief Justice from among the sitting Superior Court judges. The role is administrative on top of judicial: assigning cases and judges within the vicinage, and answering to the Administrative Office of the Courts for how it runs.
Superior Court judges reach the bench by gubernatorial nomination and Senate confirmation, so the Commission has nothing to examine and publishes no specification. The title exists in its list because judiciary staff are carried on the same payroll system.
