  • Education </b>
  • Completion of four years of study at an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree.

Experience

Two years of experience in designing, initiating, and analyzing a research project utilizing acceptable research methods and techniques with particular focus on the application of statistical methodologies.

A Master's degree in a related discipline may be substituted for one year experience as indicated above.

Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience as indicated above on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to comprehend the laws of the State of New Jersey, and the rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures of the Department of Law and Public Safety and the Division of State Police pertaining to the gatherings and dissemination of police intelligence information.
  • Ability to comprehend methods employed in illegal activities associated with organized crime and the investigative methods employed to circumvent illegal activities.
  • Ability to comprehend the intelligence process and analytical techniques as they are applied to the police intelligence function.
  • Ability to engage in research design, statistical methodology, economic and sociological data analysis.
  • Ability to identify empirical data required in developing strategic studies of criminal problems.
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate intelligence reports, containing findings, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to convert empirical data into clear concise reports of comprehensive studies containing findings, conclusions and recommendations.
