  • Assists the Division Director in negotiation of federal contracts and related work sharing agreements.
  • Prepares monthly or other interval reports in accordance with contractual agreement.
  • Prepares monthly activity report for submission to Director.
  • Represents the Division on Civil Rights at public gatherings, meetings, civil affairs and special occasions as require.
  • Determines and communicates the objectives for the office and staff and evaluates the quality and quantity of work accomplished.

  • EDUCATION </b>
  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree.

Experience

Two (2) years' experience involving professional level enforcement work, or four (4) years as a full- time professional in human rights, labor relations, education, or an investigative field.

Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute the indicated experience on a year for year basis.

License

Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Ability to acquire a thorough knowledge of the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, its related rules and regulations, and federal statutes on discrimination.
  • Considerable knowledge of the office management practices and procedures.
  • Considerable knowledge of supervisory principles and techniques.
  • Considerable knowledge of writing techniques employed in preparing reports and correspondence.
  • Basic knowledge of law enforcement theories and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of training techniques.
  • Ability to acquire wide knowledge of the rules, programs,, objectives, policies, standards, and procedures of the Division on Civil Rights.
  • Ability to represent the Division on Civil Rights in dealing with State or other agencies and groups on matters of compliance and affirmative action.
  • Ability to organize assigned administrative work and develop effective work methods.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret basic laws and regulations and supervise their application to specific situations.
  • Ability to assign and supervise the work of a large professional, administrative and clerical staff.
  • Ability to prepare correspondence relating to the work of the Division.
  • Ability to direct the establishment and maintenance of the essential records and files.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
