• Performs installation, prevention maintenance, and repair of electronic and audio equipment.
• Monitors the technical quality of radio and audio productions to assure professional standards are met.
• Serves as production engineer for studio and field productions and other special events.
• Records Public Service Announcements and reads on air as required.
• Supervises and trains staff and volunteers in proper operation of studio equipment.
• Prepares designs of radio recording equipment and recommends the purchase of new and replacement equipment.
• Prepares requisitions for needed equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Maintains production logs and other files and records as required.
• Installs new equipment and replacement parts.
• Edits production tapes for use in future broadcasts.

• In any emergency which could affect the programming, the Production Engineer Technician shall make whatever repair is possible to maintain broadcast integrity and then notify the supervisor as soon as possible.
• May be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
• <b>REQUIREMENTS Education</b>
• Graduation from an accredited two year college or technical school with an Associates degree in electronics or completion of military electronics training.
• Training must include at least 500 hours of classroom and/or laboratory instruction.

Experience

Two years experience in installation, maintenance, repair and operation of broadcast studio equipment.

License

Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Considerable knowledge of and familiarity with the use of radio broadcast equipment using a recording studio and master control room.
• Considerable knowledge of radio and electronics theory, application, and equipment.
• Ability to trouble-shoot equipment set ups, including complex audio assemblies.
• Ability to install, operate, test,_ and maintain sophisticated broadcast equipment.
• Ability to carry out sound installation design, including constant voltage systems, multiple microphone set-ups, and intercom hookups.
• Ability to diagnose and correct the causes of malfunctioning equipment to the component level.
• Ability to organize work and space schedules.
• Ability to prepare clear and accurate factual reports.
• Ability to maintain standardized engineering records, reports, and files.
• Ability to read clearly and accurately for broadcasting.
• Ability to follow oral and written instruction with a minimum of immediate supervision.
• Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with people and to direct and instruct volunteers.
• Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand-,-or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
