PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE APPELLATE COURT
The Appellate Division is a part of the Superior Court, not a separate court, and it sits in panels led by presiding judges designated by the Chief Justice from the judges assigned there. Appeals from the trial courts and from most State agency decisions are decided by those panels.
Assignment to the Division and designation to preside are both the Chief Justice's to make, from judges who reached the bench by nomination and confirmation. There is no examination behind any of it.
