Definition
Under the direction of a Technical Assistant 2 Insurance or other supervisor in the Department of Banking and Insurance or the Department of Law and Public Safety, is responsible for maintaining records of a complex nature; does other related duties.
Examples of work
Prepares statistical and other reports. Maintains the insurance manual and other records and files. Under direction, is responsible for the construction of insurance manuals and the work involved in revising the text of manuals to reflect approved filings. Assists in the work involved in researching conflicting manual entries and/or rates to establish accuracy. Prepares correspondence regarding manual audits and follows through with inquiries as required. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
Education
Completion of (60) semester hour credits at an accredited college.
Experience
Two (2) years of experience in the review and verification of highly technical material with established guidelines to assure conformity with procedures.
License
Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Knowledge of modern office methods, practices, routines, machines and equipment. Ability to understand and apply established regulations, and procedures of the Department after a period of training. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the laws governing the work of the department. Ability to prepare semi-complex correspondence in the course of official duties. Ability to learn to operate an electronic key-entry terminal or a word processor. Ability to maintain expected workflow while sustaining a high level of accuracy and thoroughness. Ability to communicate well with co-workers and to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff. Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
