This changelog tracks every field-level change NJ Civil Service Navigator has detected since it began monitoring the Commission's job specifications in May 2026: 2,123 entries recorded, most recently in July 2026. A monthly re-scrape compares the new specification text against what was previously on file and records exactly what changed (title, salary range, jurisdiction, classification, work week, and full description text) rather than just flagging that "something changed."
What is in this changelog
2,123 entries across 2,005 distinct title codes, from May 2026 to July 2026. Entries are recorded in 5 categories, and the distinction between them is the point: two of the five describe something that changed at the Civil Service Commission, and the rest describe something that changed here.

Why a recovered title is not a new one
797 of these entries are backfill, and treating them as new titles would have been the single most misleading thing this site could publish about hiring. Fixing a bug in how title codes were collected brought in a batch of specifications at once, every one of them years old. They are classified by evidence rather than by hand: a source revision date that predates our earliest scrape, or a code attributable to a known collection defect. The rule ends itself, since a genuinely new title carries a recent revision date.
Which fields actually change
Across the entries that record field-level differences, the fields that moved were title (271), description text (104), class of service (95), salary range (11), jurisdiction (2). Description text and title changes dominate; the figures people most expect to move, salary range and jurisdiction, are the rarest, because a range code is stable even when the money behind it is not. What the range pays is set by the Compensation Compendium and changes every fiscal year without the specification changing at all.
