What Is the Compensation Compendium?
The NJ Compensation Compendium is an annual publication by the NJ Civil Service Commission that defines salary schedules, salary ranges, and pay step increments for all classified state employees. The FY2026 compendium covers the period July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
Employee Relations Groups (ERGs)
Salary schedules are organized by Employee Relations Group (ERG), which corresponds to the bargaining unit or union for each position. The main ERG schedule types include:
- A-P-R-S — Administrative, Professional, Supervisory, and general state employees (CWA-represented)
- M — Managerial employees (IBEW-represented, ranges 28–45)
- L & FA — Law enforcement and state police units (PBA-represented)
- 1 & 2 — Superior officers and primary supervisory correctional staff
Explore salary data and ERG schedules or search job specifications for specific pay ranges.
