Definition

Court Reporter Supervisors lead, assign, evaluate, review, and oversee the work activities and staff resources, both on-site and remotely, of Official Court Reporters and act as Official Court Reporters producing an accurate verbatim record of court proceedings. A "verbatim record" is one that accurately reflects the spoken word.<

Requirements

License/Certification All Levels Possession of a valid Certified Court Reporter license issued by the New Jersey State Board of Court Reporting. For Court Reporter Supervisor 1 & 2 (Realtime): Possession of a valid Certified Realtime Court Reporter Certificate issued by the New Jersey State Board of Court Reporting, a valid National Certified Realtime Reporter Certificate, or a New Jersey Judiciary Realtime Certificate. Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.<

Experience

Level 1 Three years of experience producing verbatim records of proceedings in a court as an Official Court Reporter. Level 2 Five years of experience producing verbatim records of proceedings in a court as an Official Court Reporter. Special Note The Official Court Reporter shall provide the basic equipment necessary to perform the duties of this position. LEVEL SUMMARY

Level 1 - Court Reporter Supervisor 1 and Court Reporter Supervisor 1 ( Realtime) : Employees at this level assist in supervising court reporting staff or assume the responsibilities of a supervisor as needed. Write spoken words, including punctuation, utilizing a stenographic system or Realtime reporting technology system. Incorporate appropriate ancillary services needed to produce and preserve a verbatim record. Level 2 - Court Reporter Supervisor 2, Court Reporter Supervisor 2 (Realtime) : Employees at this level supervise and guide court reporting staff. Write spoken words, including punctuation, utilizing a stenographic system or Realtime reporting technology. Incorporate and provide appropriate ancillary services needed to produce and preserve a verbatim record. NOTE: The above summary and following examples of work are for illustrative purposes only.
