Definition
Under direction, assists in the provision of information to the public about the community recycling program; does other related duties as required.
Examples of work
- Prepares and distributes schedules to clients who participate in the program concerning days for pick-up and drop-off of recyclable items.
- Encourages homeowners to participate in the recycling program.
- Provides information concerning recycling regulations to the public by phone or at public gatherings.
- May assist with the receipt and disposal of household hazardous waste.
- Researches files to provide supervisor with information for reports.
- Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
License
Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Knowledge of recycling programs after a period of training.
- Ability to interact with people over the phone and in person.
- Ability to understand regulations concerning recycling programs.
- Ability to prepare correspondence and reports.
- Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
