SUPERVISING ELECTRICIAN / SUPERVISOR OF ELECTRONICS REPAIR

Definition

Under direction, supervises and works with a group of electricians engaged in the installation, inspection, repair, servicing, and maintenance of electrical equipment, appliances, machinery, and circuits and other electrical tasks; does other related duties as required.

Examples of work

• Inspects, analyzes, and determines electrical work to be done.
• Develops effective work plans, gives assignments/instructions to subordinates, and supervises their work.
• Supervises a group of electricians engaged in the installation, inspection, repair, servicing, and maintenance of electrical equipment, appliances, machinery, and circuits and other electrical tasks.
• Supervises the work involved in installation, repair, and maintenance of high and low tension power and light feeders, generating and control equipment.
• Performs the more complex electrical work
• Estimates labor, materials, and equipment needed for new or repair work.
• Supervises the fabrication of conduit systems.
• Supervises and performs safety inspection and testing of electrical systems/equipment.
• Operates and supervises the operation of electrician's tools and equipment.
• Prepares and supervises the preparation of clear, sound, accurate, and informative reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Maintains essential records and files.
• Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.

Education

Completion of a vocational, technical or specialized training program in electronics, electricity, and transistor theory and principles and solid-state circuitry.

Experience

Five (5) years of experience in electrical work involving a variety of installation, maintenance, inspection, repair, and servicing tasks.

Six (6) years of experience in work involving the maintenance and repair of electrical components, fire alarm and security alarm systems, microprocessors, and wiring systems which will have included two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
