Definition
Advises and consults the municipal health officer and the department head on various health problems in the municipality; does related work as required.
Examples of work

- Diagnoses illnesses and diseases and prescribes medicine and medical treatment;
- Advises the Health Officer of his medical findings; responsible for' the safeguarding of drugs;
- Acts as consultant to the personnel of the health department regarding various medical problems;
- Participates in community activities designed to promote health education.
- REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of New Jersey.
- Five years of experience in general medical practice,
- Thorough knowledge of the accepted principles of medicine and medical practice; and of keeping needed records.
- Ability to treat sick people successfully; to make proper diagnoses of illnesses; and to give proper medical advice.
- Good health and freedom from disabling physical and mental defects which would impair the proper performance of the required duties or which might endanger the health and safety of oneself or others.
