Education
Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
Experience
Level 2 For case management positions in the central office Clerks' Offices and in the vicinage Civil Divisions and Pretrial Services Units: One year of paraprofessional experience in case management involving gathering, reviewing and verifying case-related information which shall have included one or more of the following: conducting investigations, monitoring casework flow, interviewing clients or customers for needed information, preparing investigative fact-finding reports and/or writing case notes or other case-related correspondence. For AOC Probation Division ISP/JISP positions: One year of paraprofessional experience in case management in the field of probation or community development. Level 3 Two years of professional experience in case management involving gathering and analyzing case-related information which shall have included the exercise of judgment and discretion, and one or more of the following: reviewing cases to identify case management and discovery needs, coordinating with judges and/or attorneys to resolve case issues, and/or preparing reports of findings and recommendations. Level 4 Four years of professional experience in casework involving supervising offenders, and one or more of the following: gathering and analyzing case-related information; determining client needs; providing access to social services, therapeutic interventions, or rehabilitative assistance; and/or preparing reports of findings and recommendations. Substitution Level 1 Current New Jersey Judiciary employees who do not possess the required education may substitute: • Additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience in case management involving gathering and analyzing case-related information which shall have included the exercise of judgment and discretion, and one or more of the following: reviewing cases to identify case management and discovery needs, coordinating with judges and attorneys to resolve case issues, and/or preparing reports of findings and recommendations. This experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. • An associate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of additional paraprofessional or professional experience as described above. Levels 2, 3 and 4 Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of additional paraprofessional or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. Levels 3 and 4 A master's degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of experience. Advancement Level 1 Appointees who successfully complete the twelve-month training period will be eligible for advancement to the Court Services Officer 1 title.
License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
