Examples of work
- Supervises assigned personnel in carrying out their jobs in the most effective manner.
- Sets up pattern of operation of ice-making equipment so as to result in efficient operation.
- Maintains ice skating service in the manner that reflects the highest standards possible.
- Operates and maintains the Zamboni ice resurfacing machine; operates and maintains other related mechanical equipment and vehicles.
- Maintains accurate records of the operation of the ice equipment.
- Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording information systems used by the agency, office or related unit.
Education
Ability to road, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
Experience
Three (3) years of experience as Artificial Ice Rink Refrigeration Engineer.
License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Knowledge of refrigeration equipment and of the ice requirements for all types of ice skating events.
- Ability to give suitable assignments and instruction to men assigned to the operation and maintenance of ice and other related equipment.
- Ability to work harmoniously with associates and persons using the rink.
- Ability to offer information leading to the correct selection of equipment and other materials for the rink.
- Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
