Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position. CHARACTERISTIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of established security procedures and guidelines. Knowledge of bidding procedures. Knowledge of printing terminology. Knowledge of inventory control. Knowledge of bookbinding equipment for brochures, pamphlets, books, and other printed material. Knowledge of the types of printing ink. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of copy preparation, composition and layout. Knowledge of layout techniques. Knowledge of techniques for applying commercial lettering to layout design. Knowledge of layout specifications for printing. Knowledge of limitations and capabilities of printing equipment. Knowledge of graphic arts techniques and media. Knowledge of techniques of interpersonal relations. Knowledge of the principles of graphic arts design. Knowledge of principles and techniques of forms design. Kowledge of methods and procedures of forms control. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using decimals, percentages and fractions. Ability to compare written or printed material for accuracy. Ability to read with comprehension. Ability to edit rough or final copy for form, accuracy, and clarity. Designs layouts of graphic or printed materials, including brochures, newsletters, forms, reports, leaflets, or booklets. Determines format, size, and arrangement of forms. Reviews blue-line and vendor's proofs. Approves printer's proofs. Develops formats for printed material. Plans implementation of projects or programs. Reads journals or other publications for the purpose of keeping abreast of developments in the field. Informs users or production staff of existing, updated, or modified forms. Requests information from vendors on materials, equipment, parts or supplies. Informs individuals of procedures necessary for completion of forms or applications. Consults with outside agencies or individuals about information necessary for job assignments. Provides technical advice to staff, peers or management. Leads a team or other group of nonsubordinates in assigned tasks. Consults with users on available graphic services. Arranges materials, equipment, parts and supplies for inventory control. Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester-hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience. Six (6) years of professional experience in form analysis and design, graphic arts techniques and media, and bookbinding techniques. OR Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience. "Professional experience" refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions.
