- Plans, administers, and coordinates the promotional and market development programs of the dedicated funded commodity promotion councils including budget development, contract administration, fiscal supervision and the supervision and maintenance of the Council's official records, in conformance with State statutes.

- Supervises the development of program funding proposals and administer funds derived from many sources such as: statutory councils, State funds, federal matched funds, private commodity groups.
- Represents the Division or Bureau at meetings, conferences, seminars and other events in support of the Division's marketing programs.
- Plans and supervises comprehensive promotional programs aimed specifically at retail food chains stores, cooperative chain stores, food brokers and institutional suppliers.
- Plans, develops, and supervises special events including personal appearances by the Secretary of Agriculture, tours for food communicators and foreign trade representatives; produces seminars and training meetings for food industry representatives to highlight the advantages of purchasing and using New Jersey farm products.
- Manages the Bureau operations and/or functional programs and has responsibility for effectively recommending the hiring, firing, promoting, and/or disciplining of employees.
- Prepares detailed reports in the course of official duties.
- Supervises the preparation of clear, sound and informative, promotional, financial, progress and other reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations,
- Supervises the establishment and maintenance of essential records and files.
- May be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.

- EDUCATION</b>
- Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Home Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or Business Administration, including or supplemented by at least 12 credit hours in Marketing.
Experience
Five years of comprehensive professional experience in in programs of promotion, marketing or public relations related to agricultural products which shall have included two years in a supervisory capacity.
A Master's degree in any of the above subjects may be substituted for one year of the indicated non-supervisory experience.
License
Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Ability to acquire thorough knowledge of the volume, production, marketing practices and channels related to New Jersey farm products.
- Thorough knowledge of the procedures, processes and techniques used in harvesting, handling, packaging and storing varied kinds of farm products.
- Thorough knowledge of the trade practices and marketing and distribution channels for farm products.
- Wide knowledge of special agricultural markets such as the military procurement system, roadside and direct market outlets, cooperative and other group marketing alternatives used by farmers.
- Wide knowledge and skill in formulating advertising and public relations programs which will contribute to the orderly marketing of specific farm products.
- Wide knowledge of market development as it relates to developing new market outlets for agricultural products.
- Considerable knowledge of the particular marketing, distribution and advertising problems of the growers of farm products.
- Considerable knowledge of the farm production schedules of other areas marketing farm products.
- Ability to plan and organize agricultural marketing and related work; analyze specific farm product marketing problems and potentials, and develop appropriate programs to expand and increase the use of and income related to farm products.
